Good God, it's like we're synced.
Okay, no complaining for a week. Starting right now, Tuesday, 10:46 pm.
ooo, this is gonna be tough.
This week is really hard for me, but I'm going to take this on anyway :)

Hi Melissa, There's a book called A Complaint Free World and it is about this very thing. It suggests the use one of those awareness type bracelets (or even a rubber band). The idea is to switch it from one wrist to the other every time you notice yourself complaining. It is VERY effective as it raises you awareness to how much you actually complain. Great challenge. Good luck! :)

First off I'm from Jersey originally as well, so nice to meet a fellow shore mate. Second off beautiful website. Lastly, and regarding this post, I think it's important to live naturally. I think things like getting rest, tending to your mind and body, and having an innocent desire to be "nice" will naturally lead to things like 'not complaining', why strain?

I'm absolutely with you on not complaining for a week. This is going to be especially challenging with finals coming up -- can't wait to see how it goes!

Hope you enjoy Marc Hauser's book -- I read it as part of a philosophy of psychology class. His main argument -- that there's a universal moral grammar -- is really fascinating. If you want any references to outside works that help with the larger picture, let me know!

I agree with Molly about the 'crazy synchronicity' of this post. Yesterday at church my pastor preached about a 29-day fast of no complaining, murmuring and gossiping. Why 29 days? Well, as of yesterday there was exactly 29 days left until Easter Sunday.

Crazy Synchronicity- I just wrote in my journal last night that I would try out "not complaining, blaming, or whining" for an entire week. And then I find this post!
