Even though I wrote about it two years ago, I would have totally forgotten that today, January 24th, is Compliment Day. Lucky for me, I received a little reminder in my mailbox.
It came from my friends over at Curious & Company, the nicest group of incredibly talented designers that I have been fortunate enough to get to know. And I'm not just saying that because they sent me a card saying I'm awesome. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one to receive this mailing. :)
The fun part was on the inside. (And it was very considerate of them to coordinate their design with my office wall color.)
It came with adorable little compliment cards attached. I'm a big fan of "You wear the best ties!" probably because I like wearing fun ties. Getting cards during the holiday season is great and all, but receiving a card for an unexpected holiday like this one is pretty darn fantastic! Thanks Brooke, Maggie, Drew, Terry, and Chris!
Today's Assignment: Pay a Compliment
So, let's celebrate this nicest of holidays! Aren't quite sure what to say? Maybe the person you want to compliment doesn't wear ties all that often? Well, the Compliment Day website has a whole list of possible compliment options.
I'm going to attempt to compliment TEN people today. This can be difficult for my quiet, socially awkward self, but I think it's a great exercise in kindness. Who's in?!
By the way, you have excellent taste in blogs. ;)

Great assignment for today! Mondays are a good day to focus on being positive. Plus, I teach on Mondays and it will be easy to be critical today, since I'm nervous my students won't be ready for an upcoming presentation, but now I will be sure to compliment them on the work they're doing to motivate them to keep working!

LOVE YOUR BLOG & your niceness. i saw some ripples go out today when i complimented AND when i hung up the free compliment flyer. people just start to smile, even if they don't do it...
