I received a tweet the other day from MyUglyKitty with a link to this story about a young woman in Colorado who had her wedding called off days beforehand. With a reception room booked and catered and not enough notice to cancel, she decided to do the most beautiful thing. She contacted the Salvation Army to organize an early holiday meal for a local homeless shelter.
I found this video on CNN and had to hold back tears:
This woman took a heart-breaking life event and turned it around into an amazing and selfless gesture.

WOW! What a beautiful story! What an amazing self-less person!
wow...im sitting here crying. What a wonderful gesture her time of pain.
I too the youngest daughter had my wedding called off. It was the most painful experience of my life. So if i could talk to this young girl...ms. schafer...please know that you are not alone and there is HOPE and love on the other side! I will be praying for you everyday!
That's absolutely wonderful. :)
Aww, Laurie Ann! Now your comment is making me tear up!
I saw this last night and I too had to stop myself from crying. The man that left her is missing out on a great person for sure.
Wow, what a heartwarming story!!
PREACH Adorably Dead! Preach! that is the TRUTH!
Thank you so much for featuring my suggestion! I loved that story. Just don't watch that video at work. Crying plus emails is never a good combination. :)
This is so beautiful! Ms. Schafer has such a kind heart! Melissa, I enjoy your phenomenal blog immensely, and I hope you continue to post such wonderful stories as this.
