Hi there! I know I'm late with this assignment. You're going to have to bear with me this week. It's a crazy one! But really, aren't they all?
I think I'm going through a 1/3 life crisis right now. I'm not really sure what I should be doing with my life, my career, my health. Maybe it's because I'm a few months away from 30, and every time I read an article about an incredible person in their mid-20's (or sometimes mid-teens!) I feel like I'm slackin'. I should be a rock star. Or running a non-profit. Or designing for an amazing firm. Or illustrating children's books. I don't know! Maybe I should get a life coach like Miss B did. In the meantime, life is pretty good, so I can't complain. I just wish I knew what my next steps should be.
Sorry for the vent! In other news, did you know that it's Earth Week? Why yes it is! And I'm all for being NICE to the earth, so that's what this week's assignment is all about.
Today's Assignment: Pick 5 for the Environment
The EPA has a fun campaign to celebrate Earth Day/Week called Pick 5 for the Environment.

They have a bunch of tips for saving the earth, and they ask that you pledge to do five of them. I picked ones like "Dispose of solid and liquid wastes and medications safely" and "When purchasing goods, opt for sustainable, recycled or reused resources. Choose items in less packaging."
Remember, just like spreading kindness, when it comes to being NICE to the earth, little things make a HUGE difference when we all pledge to do them together.

Hey Melissa, Found your blog through Bloesem! I wanted to thank you for your post about Toms, never heard of them and went and bought myself a pair. Thanks for spreading the word! I'll be sure to do so on my blog when I get them. -Allyson
you are definitely not slacking. you give me the idea, inspiration, or kick in the pants i need every few days to keep spreading the niceness. you are a rockstar. and operation nice definitely has potential to become an amazing non-profit. thank you for keeping it up!
Thanks Melissa - great inspiration as always. I haven't commented in a while, but I am a frequent reader, and I had to chime in. You are not a slacker! But I do understand your desire for direction. There isn't always a clear path. Good luck with everything!
woman, you run operation nice!
talk about accomplishing something significant.
i'm a fan!
I just found your blog (and I don't remember where), but I think this whole concept is lovely.
It sounds like you need to read this post from Elements of Style called Fail Better: http://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/2010/04/fail-better.html
Sorry I don't usually leave links for anything other than my sign-off blog link, but I think this one is really good. You will like it. :)

Hi Melissa,
I have just discovered your cute blog and will be adopting a nice button...
Seems to me you're on your path towards what you're 'doing with your life', if not doing it already.
Guess it must be your birthday round about now, hope it's a good one :)
p.s Being in your 30's is great - beats previous decades for sure!
