I have to admit to you all, I sucked at the last assignment. I really wanted to be a better listener. And sometimes when I was midst conversation, I was able to ask more questions and keep the focus on the other person. But it is SUCH a tough habit to get into. It's just so easy to tell stories of personal experiences! Did anyone else have as much trouble as I did? But anyway, it'll be something I need to work on.
Because last week was such a challenge, I thought I'd make this week a bit easier. :) That's me being selfish. Haha!
When I was a kid, I started collecting postcards. Everywhere I went, I'd grab two or three or thirty. Eventually I had a collection of more than 1,000 postcards, some in an album, some in a box. To this day, my grandfather still saves them for me and sends them my way. Who doesn't love getting a postcard in the mail? Well, why wait until a vacation to let someone know that you wish they were there?
Today's Assignment: Send a PostcardI have quite a few friends and family members that don't live within driving distance. I think it'd be nice (and simple) to pick up a postcard from my home state of New Jersey, or maybe my work city of Philadelphia, and drop a little love in the mail. C'mon, it doesn't even require licking an envelope! And it's good because it really limits you to a few sentences. I have a tendency to ramble. Like you guys don't know that!
I'm going to try to find the cheesiest postcards I can! Hopefully it'll put a smile on the faces of my friends and family! Want to join me for a little postal campaign to spread kindness to our loved ones? If so, let me know how many you plan on sending out and to who! I'll shoot for a minimum of five, and if I'm ambitious I'll do more. Happy writing!

Hi, I'm Melissa! Welcome to my blog! I believe that kindness can change the world, so it's my mission to spread the concept of being nice, as simple as that may sound. I hope you'll have a look around!

I LOVE this! I, too, collect post cards :) I'm thinking of five people I want to send some to from my new town.
Great idea! I'm totally going to do this one :)
I did ok on the listening but as a rule I'm really bad about making a conversation about me. If nothing it made me be conscious of it. Some people don't even know they do it!
Thanks for playing along, ladies!!
Yeah, my husband can be a pretty bad listener. He has a habit of turning every conversation into one about him. I know it's involuntary, so I give him the benefit of the doubt! :) Maybe that's why I'm so anxious to talk about myself with other people! haha!
What a wonderful idea!! I've been intending to send out some cards (I've been working on making my own...mailing these to friends and family disciplines me to actually make them AND shares the love with those I miss!) So...does this count?!
I love this, too! My friend and I (I'm in Okla. and she's in Singapore) send each other a postcard every Tuesday. I will definitely be doing this NICE assignment.
Great idea! I am a big fan of postcards. Every trip I take includes postcard shopping/sending. I keep postcards that I've received hanging where I can see them for awhile...both for the photo and for the reminder that someone was thinking of me. I often stick a photo to cardstock and mail that as a postcard. It's easy to email photos but even more fun to find one in the mailbox among the nasty bills! Thank for reminding me!
What a good idea! I live in Hawaii and most of my friends and fam live in MA! We have some beautiful postcards here...I'm excited to start!
i sent a postcard last week to a coworker that i really enjoy working with and today she surprised me w/a scarf!! =)
