NICE Assignment: Have a Merry Christmas!

Can you believe it's Christmas week already??? I can't. This entire year FLEW by! And I suppose since I didn't really have to do any preparation for the holiday, it snuck up on me. I've been so busy lately that I had to settle for a box of holiday cards, meaning no fun Christmas photo this year. But maybe this one will do. :)

Rob and I took this at a photo booth at a roller skating rink on Friday night, so we'll just say this is our holiday picture for the year.

Just a fun little assignment for today. I want you to tell me in the comments here, "What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?"

Mine is definitely decorating my tree. And watching "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, which I still haven't done this year. Oh, and singing along to "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses. You'd think that song would get old, but I still love it!

How about you? What makes you smile this time of year???

At the evening of the 24th we celebrate christmas, give and recieve presents and eat and drink (mostly both too much!) and have a house full of people. So my favorite thing about the holiday season is the morning of the 25th: I get up quite early, make myself a lovely cuppa tea and enjoy the silence and peace of the morning. Happy Holidays!

Putting the tree up, decorating it and watching my son go crazy with excitement. This year, we added a train to the bottom of the tree and I think that just about made his day. :-) I love watching his face lights up when he sees the tree in the morning, discovering gifts (and hunting for his own), and looking at the ornaments that he "helped" put up. :-) This year is extra special because we're waiting for the arrival of the second baby and so that adds to the excitement.

@shouldhavezagged - i just listened to that christmas song not 5 minutes ago! wonderful!

my favorite thing about the holiday season is the happier, nicer spirit that people have. it just seems to bring out a nicer spirit in even the scrooges!

I love being surrounded by family. I also love the tradition of eating carmel corn while decorating the Christmas tree!

My favorite thing during Christmas is driving around and seeing all the Christmas lights on people's houses, at the stores, in the gardens, anywhere! I love the lights and then best of all coming home and seeing them on my own house. :)

My parents host Christmas Eve (which is our big gathering, Christmas Day is quite quiet for us) and have homemade clam chowder, smoked salmon which my dad catches and smokes himself, and all kinds of other lovely treats. It's the only time of year that we have the clam chowder so it's a big deal and sooo delicious!

Being with family, going to church on Christmas eve, eating my grandmother's recipe of fudge (layer of choc., layer of PB, layer of choc.) which my Mom makes and has for the 47 years she's been married to my Daddy, seeing the done and the lights on for the first time, listening and singing Tennessee Christmas by Amy Grant. This is my favorite time of the year.

P.S. Cameron~ can I come to your house for your Daddy's smoked salmon? yum!!

this is my first Christmas with my husband, so we have two families to celebrate with. we're having the families over tomorrow for dinner (i have so much cooking to do!) and then going to maine as we do each year, leaving at 5 a.m. on the 26th. I have over 30 relatives up there so I can introduce my husband to them! now we are making new traditions together.
@Kristine: That fudge sounds incredible!
