NICE Assignment: Places I Love

Hi guys! Did you all have wonderful Halloweens?? Mine was fun! I wish we would have had more trick or treaters though. We only got three. And I live in a perfect trick or treating neighborhood, so I was surprised. I remember when I was a kid, we went through at least 14 bags of candy every Halloween. It was awesome!

I hope I never feel too old to dress up. I love it so much! Here I am on Friday night, as my favorite movie character of all time, Max Fischer from Rushmore. After trying to convince my husband to be him three years in a row, I decided to do it myself. :) Funny thing is that it's not that much different than what I typically wear. I bought the beret and the blazer, but everything else is a regular part of my wardrobe.

Since it's now the month of Thanksgiving in the U.S., I thought it would be great to do Love Lists as every weekly assignment, focusing on different topics. Let's give thanks for the things we love by sharing them with each other.

Today's Assignment: Places I Love

If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be? What places do you have fond memories of? What spots do you regularly visit because you love them so much? Here are mine.

Let's get the cheesiest one out of the way first. I love to be in the arms of my husband. There, I said it. • I love the city of Boston. The vibe, the awesome public transportation, the fabulous shopping. • I love Sorted (indie/brit rock dance party) at the Barbary. • I loved my grandparents' living room on Christmas Eve, where we'd gather to open gifts for hours upon hours. • I love my newly furnished bedroom. • I love Lorenzo's on South Street. Yum. • I love my friend Maria's home in Arizona which I'll be visiting in three days! • I love riding the subway in NYC. • I love sitting at my parents' kitchen table, chatting with them on a Sunday morning. • I love hammocks. All of them. • I love the HOW Design Conferences. • I love wandering the aisles of Barnes and Noble. • I love the Ritz theaters in Philadelphia. • I love bowling alleys. • I love art supply stores. • I love karaoke bars. • I loved going to the Point Pleasant boardwalk with my mom. • I love anywhere that involves good friends and good board games.

Ahh, that was much needed. It's been a rough day! But thinking about all those great places has put me in a much better mood! So, wanna play along? Tell me about the places YOU love!

I love snuggling in bed with my hubby. - The library. - The aisles of Goodwill. - Any bookstore. - A kitchen where some good soul food is cooking. - Anywhere with a fireplace. - On the beach in the early am when no one else is out yet. - The mountains when the leaves have all changed colors. - Starbucks with someone special for good convo purposes. - And anywhere I feel comfortable. :)

I love...my bed, especially when it's raining in the afternoon. Strangely enough, I love my office. The section of the museum with all the stuffed animals. My brother's house on the weekends. The second and third floors of Borders bookstore. Sewing on my balcony. And the giant second-hand store with aisles made of cupboards.

I love my ever understanding hubby, my furbabies, Venice, Italy at night after the day tourist are gone, museums, finding that "it" item at a thrift store or online (go ebay!!), making noise (a core competance), being debt-free, looking forward to a journey and digging all the tedious details, being myself.

Thanks for the assignment Melissa--you go girl!

Great costume! And are we on the same wavelength?! Today, I began my creative flow by making my list of favorites...it's not as simple as it was when I was a kid.

But favorite places, visited and unvisited, definitely were easy enough:
*Dolores Park, San Francisco
*California Academy of Science (Steinhart Aquarium) SF
*Park Slope, Brooklyn (All of it!)
*Moss Beach, North of Half Moon Bay, CA
*Clifden, Ireland
*Dublin, Ireland
*7th and Irving, SF
*Washington DC
*Thump Coffee, Bend, OR
*Our family bed every night, every morning!

I love this assignment! I have to agree with Zomb1etron~ my bed is probably my MOST favorite place no matter what time of day, the weather or who is in it! ;-)

But after that, a pâtisserie in Paris, any bookstore, my parents sofa hanging out with them, court side at a basketball game, on the beach before and after a rain, anywhere in Kona, Hawaii, an antique store~ where you can smell the mustiness of it all, driving near a park after the grounds crew has just cut the grass, and making it full circle....

as I go to bed the night before a big trip!

hi - i just found your blog, and i will for sure play along! i love my bed - cuddling in the middle of the day in bed with my husband because we both happen to have nowhere to be at the same time. i love my parents kitchen - visiting my parents, and waking up early to sit in their beautiful kitchen with a mug of coffee and the newspaper and catch up with them before anyone else gets up. i love my neigborhood - taking walks when all the leaves are gold & orange & fiery red. i love my grocery store - picking out all the things we're going to eat for the week. i love really authentic and adorable cafes - sitting in them and journaling or reading and feeling just perfect. i love staples - looking through the pens, notebook and agendas just makes me feel happy. i love bookstores - especially for the journals and the cookbooks (chapters for journals, book warehouse for cookbooks)... it's still early, so that's all i can think of now :) oh, and i also love waking up early and sitting on my couch with coffee & all the new blogs to read :)

I love...
Midland because the streets are so wide and the sky is so high. I love the hammock behind my parents' house, my in-laws' garden, and Waterfire in downtown Providence.
I like the 6 hours between Austin and Midland, and the 30 minutes between Vilnius and Utena.
I like the walk between Rue du Regard and Rue de Turenne.
