NICE Assignment: Laugh a Lot!

I came across this article via a tweet from fellow RAOKA member, Dani from Positively Present. It's called Laughter IS The Best Medicine and explains all of the benefits from experiencing a laugh, chuckle, chortle, crack up, or yuk. As if we really need an excuse to bust out laughing. :)

No one can make me laugh quite like my husband, Rob. Here he is making me crack up to the point of tears at a black tie gala a few years ago. To be honest, I was feeling kind of crummy today, but after looking at this picture, I couldn't help but feel the hilarity I was experiencing at the time this photo was taken. Hey, maybe there really is something to this whole "laughing" thing.

In that case...

Today's Assignment: Laugh a Lot!

The article has a few tips to help increase your ability to laugh, from spending time with children to playing games with friends. All great ideas! But I'm calling on you guys! I want to know what makes you laugh. Is there a youtube clip that cracks you up every time you see it? Or a website? Or a joke? Share it in the comments and I'll continue to add them to the bottom of this post.

I'll start with a few of my favorites.

An oldie but goodie...the laughing babies:

This video reminds me of me and Rob:

And one of my favorites, Steven Wright:

Let's make each other laugh!

From readers:
Gayze has a really silly joke in the comments, be sure to check it out! :)
From Melissa: A hilarious Twitter account (warning: explicit language)
From Cristie: A video all about laughing!
From Elizabethflew: Overheard in NY, Catherine Tate and David Tennant, and of course, can't go wrong with LOLCats!

I'm glad that link inspired you. Laughter is SO important. In fact, I wrote about it awhile back on my site in a post called "Laugh It Off". There are so many benefits when it comes to laughing and we should all strive to do it as much as possible!

These are great, Melissa. Love those laughing babies, it doesn't matter how many times you see them, they'll get ya every time!

The hardest I ever remember laughing, and I chuckled on and off all that night long, was over a really DUMB joke. Today, it doesn't even seem funny -- but at the time it was one of those "pass milk through your nose" moments.

You've probably heard it, but here goes:

There was a fellow, who lived in the city, and had grown up there all his life. One day he decided to go for a long walk and see what the suburbs were like. So he strolled past shops and offices and bus stations, and came to an organ grinder on the corner.

He stood for a while, tapping his feet to the music, while the monkey passed the tin cup around. Taking a quarter from his pocket, he dropped it in the cup, patted the monkey, and continued his stroll.

On he went, through the crowds, past the clogged traffic, and came to another corner, with another organ grinder. Again, he stopped for a while to enjoy the music, gave the monkey a coin and continued on his way.

Further down he heard the music again, and there, indeed, was another organ grinder and his monkey.

This went on and on, as the traffic got thinner, the crowds grew smaller, and the apartment buildings gave way to little gardens and condos, then neighborhoods with big houses and lawns.

Suddenly, our city friend came to a large lawn before a big split level ranch. In front of the house was a man in a chef's hat, turning a chicken on a barbecue spit. Our friend stopped a moment, stared, and shouted:

...
...
...

"Hey mister! The music stopped and your monkey's on fire!"

... I guess you had to be there....

In Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne we have this free paper called mX that's given out in the CBS train stations, and there's a great section called "Overheard". Seeing as I can't post those here, I have this: http://www.overheardinnewyork.com/

It is at times inappropriate, but some of them are just so funny I actually giggle aloud on the trains.

Catherine Tate always makes me laugh, and I love Doctor Who and in-jokes, so this comedy sketch is brilliant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxB1gB6K-2A

LOLCats (Icanhascheezburger): http://icanhascheezburger.com/

And I know there's more, but I need to do a load of washing :)
