Today's testimonial comes from Natalie. Well, technically, it comes from a woman named Mary, who had written a letter of praise about Natalie's two amazing coworkers, Jerry and Charles. Natalie forwarded it along for you all to read.
Have you ever accidentally left your wallet or purse somewhere? I've done it more times that I can count. I've left my purse in dressing rooms. I've left my wallet in restaurant booths. I can be a little flaky at times. About six years ago, I dropped my wallet in the middle of the Museum of Natural History in New York City. I was pretty sure it was gone for good. But I checked with guest services and some kind soul had turned it in, without leaving their name and number so I could properly thank them! (If you're reading this blog, thanks mystery stranger!)
Well, Mary had a similar situation. When trying to recover her lost purse, she encountered two employees of the Metropolitan Transit System who went above and beyond their call of duty.
Here's her letter (click to enlarge):

Thanks, Jerry and Charles, for being such nice guys!

So neat to read about these two men going above and beyond the call of duty to be nice. And it was great of Mary to write the letter as well.
One time when I was in my twenties, the drive belt on my car broke as I was exiting the highway, and I was stuck at the bottom of the exit ramp with a baby in a car seat and several packages. This was way back when before everyone carried cell phones. A very lovely middle-aged woman pulled up and offered to take me home (thankfully I was only about 2 miles from my door and she wasn't horribly inconvenienced). It was the first and only time I ever accepted a ride from a stranger, but we just looked into each other's faces and trusted each other, I suppose.
I honestly don't remember her name or anything else about the experience, but I do remember the wonderful feeling of having someone care about me enough to make an offer than not only put them out, but may have even seemed like a risk at the time.
I don't know WHAT is with me today but that letter kind of got me all misty. Man I'm such a softy.
Thanks for the reminder that there are some saints in this world.
Wow, niiiiice. It does remind us there are good people out there; thanks for sharing it. Inspiring.
Awww, wish stuff would happen like that more often. The people being nice bit, not the wallet getting lost bit! ;)
