She shares a sweet experience she recently had.
A couple weeks back I was feeling miserable. I had been sick for a couple weeks already and this had been the worst that I felt the entire time. It was the weekend and I had to run to Target to pick up a few things. Needless to say, I didn’t have the energy to getting gussied up to leave the house, so I put on a hat in hopes of hiding the bags under my eyes and my non-made-up face. As I pulled into my parking spot, I noticed a little old lady who was easily 80 years old putting her bags in her trunk with another woman (maybe her daughter). As I walked passed, the little old lady shouted out “Miss!” I assumed that they needed some sort of help so I stopped to find out what I could do. Much to my surprise, she needed nothing from me. All she wanted was to say: “You look really cute in your hat!” That 5 second comment made my day! She had no idea how horrible I was feeling, and I’m sure had no idea how that comment changed my mood. Sometimes it’s the littlest things that really do make all the difference in someone’s day. Don't you wish more people were so generous with their compliments? I know there are times when I notice someone's cute shoes or haircut or bag, and most of the time I don't say anything. That's something I have to work on because I know I love it when I receive an out of the blue compliment! Doesn't everyone?

thanks for featuring my story melissa!
Oh, that is a completely adorable story! I love it! I do admit that sometimes I would have the courage to compliment someone on their nice shoes or coat, but I didn't want come off as strange because really, I'm kinda shy. No, really I am! :-) So, I know what you mean Melissa!
It's amazing how one kind word can make your day (and, conversely, how one unkind word - carelessly spoken - can ruin it). Thanks for reminding us to be a little more generous with the kind words.
love that story! what a nice lady!
I try - every time I feel a compliment is deserved, I give it.
to the reciever it is totally unexpected - and makes them smile. and it makes my day too.
