The NICE Testimonial today comes from Liz Foster, who emailed me last weekend about what happened when she decided to hold a garage sale.
I went through a move the beginning of October. Since I was moving to a smaller abode, I had a huge garage sale. I loved staging all my" too-much-stuff "in the garage. I had created a milieu with candles and small displays. I really wanted to clear out all the stuff. So I had a quarter marked on many items, and a few sprinkled though out marked "free", to keep people looking.
On the last day I still had a huge sofa and chair (not marked a quarter). A friend I had met at the exercise club came through and asked about the furniture. I told her I would be happy if someone would just come get them! She told me that she and her husband collected items for international students who came to our town to study. I was happy to let her have them. The NICE part to the story. I got a thank you letter from the young lady who received the sofa. She writes, "I don't know why you would give a sofa to someone you did not know." She goes on to say, "I am going to write home and tell how kind Americans are here."
It was nice of the lady to take care of the needs of others in a new country, it was nice of the young lady to write her thanks. I just had a sofa I wanted to be rid off.
Liz unknowingly gave folks in another country a good impression of Americans! Haha! Love it!
