After I gave an hour long presentation on kindness, a wonderful little group of 6th graders decided it was time to take action. With "Gratitude" being such a big part of our program, my little "kindness crew" decided to find someone who truly deserved thanks for all that they do. The kids eventually made their way into the school cafe only to discover it was still "trashed" from the last group of students. Litter covered the tables and floors, as the cafe workers (no longer called lunch ladies) were getting ready to clean up the large mess. It was at this point that the group of 6th graders approached the women in the cafe, looked right into their eyes and said, "we just want to say thank you for all that you do for us. We know you have to work very hard here." But it didn't stop there. The students then proceeded to tell the ladies to take a much deserved break and THEY would clean up the entire cafe for them. You can only imagine the looks on the women's faces as tears of joy welled up in their eyes...I am just so proud of my little "kindness crew" and thought their story deserved to be shared with others.
There's a sight I wish I saw! I'm sending out my gratitude to Michael for doing something that I believe is incredibly valuable. Folks like Michael make me hopeful that I can one day take Operation NICE one step further.
By the way, the String-Ring™ Giveaway ends tonight at 8pm, so get those stories in. There have been over 70 entries! AWESOME! Thanks to all the participants!

Congratulations being featured on Good Morning America! I couldn't believe when I went and sat down a moment and was putting my shoes on to go to work, there was your picture, famous note cards and the lovely Postcard!
Hurray!
Keep up with the kindness and smiles because we definitely need more of that.
I forgot to post this before... I'm glad that Michael inspired these amazing kids and what a great story to tell.
