NICE Giveaway: The Dippy Chick Company

A few weeks ago, I received an email from sweetheart Chris over at The Dippy Chick Company. She said that all of you with your touching stories and positive attitudes are so nice that she'd like to offer up some of her dip mixes as a giveaway! How great is that?!

Those that know me are aware of my dip obsession. Often my dinners consist solely of dip. The great thing about Chris's dip mixes is that they can be used as a seasoning or combined with pasta or mixed in with mashed potatoes (which is something I must try). Mmm, love me some potatoes!

Sorry, it's early and I haven't eaten yet. I'm getting sidetracked by visions of real meals. I've eaten a lot of takeout lately.

Cut to the chase. Chris is offering up a 14 pack gift box of her dip mixes, which retails for $48!

I know I've been asking you for NICE anecdotes a lot lately, so I figured I'd give you a break. To enter the contest, just post a comment here. You can say anything you want! Just say hi. Tell me a joke. Talk about how awesome the finale of Project Runway was last night. Tell me what you're going to be for Halloween. Give me a suggestion about how to improve this site. Or even tell a NICE anecdote if you have one handy! Contest will end at 8pm EST next Thursday, October 23rd.

As for me? Well, the finale of Project Runway was pretty awesome last night! Oh yeah, and GO PHILLIES! I know my husband is a die hard Red Sox fan, and I'd love for them to make the World Series too, but Philly is my town and I want to see a parade out of my office window!

Am I the only girl on the planet that doesn't watch Project Runway? Certainly the only one in the blogosphere. Anyway...great giveaway - I love dips! I love roasting potatoes and making salads and pasta and of course dips.

Go Sox! :-)

I don't have cable right now, so I saw the whole season, but not the finale. That makes me sad.

Anyway, I thought I'd leave you guys a joke as well...

A batch of muffins are baking in the oven. One says to the others, "Man it's HOT in here!"

Another one screams "Oh my god! A talking muffin!"

awesome! i'm in!

the finale last night was awesome! i've loved her from the beginning. (and even tried to find a pair of glasses like hers when i was looking.....with no luck.) i'm so glad she won!

I just posted and I guess it didn't work oh well. I love dip more than any normal human being should. I want to be guacamole for Halloween anyone have ideas about how to make that happen? Or maybe an 8 layer bean dip!

Wow, this is a generous (and FANTASTIC) giveaway! I love me some dip too - glad to hear I'm not the only one who makes a meal out of dip!

My kiddos are sitting at the table eating breakfast right now chattering back and forth, and I think they're talking with their cereal. It's adorable and hilarious! Kids are great entertainment, and ALWAYS good for a smile ;-)

For Halloween, I'm dressing up like Scrabble, hosting an old-school dance in my backyard (hear "Monster Mash" in your mental movie), and going trick-or-treating for canned goods to donate to a food bank. Good times!

Thanks for this contest...

Hi! I just found your site through a mutual friend on Twitter. I really love the names on these dips. "May the Horse be with You" or "Take Another lil' Pizza My Heart"... very cute! Thanks for such a nice giveaway!

Artsy Fartsy said...

your giveaways inspire me. Maybe i should do one with my aprons. That might be fun!

Hmmm, let's see...

The Knight and I are going to be Hans Solo and Princess Leia, but we chose those completely unoriginal costumes only because we are going to dress up Betty Rascal as Chewbacca. Personally, I wanted to dress up like R2D2 and pull around our shop vac all night (it could be C3PO).

What are you and the mister going to be for Halloween?

Melissa said...

Erika, you SHOULD do a giveaway! I love them because I like getting blog comments. :-) It's selfish really. As for Halloween, I'm still not sure. My idea was to buy a faux fur coat at the thrift store, douse it in red paint, and spraypaint "fur is murder" on the back. And then have Rob wear a Peta t-shirt and carry a paint bucket and a sign that says, "Fur is not fair!" So we'd be a Peta activist and victim. It might not go over great, but I keep imagining all the funny action pictures we could take!

I love your site. One of my favorite things to do once I get to work before my boss gets here is to come to your blog and read it. I hate it when he comes in early and I have to start working. Have a great day.

Yay giveaways! The finale was phenomenal - they all did such a great job! I was shocked by the winner - all season I thought it would be Korto or Jerell. Oh, and for Halloween I'm going to be Jovi (as an elf), from the movie Elf. I can't wait to watch again the movie to brush up on the quotes!

Cherrill said...

Mmmm dip! We used to routinely have meals made up solely of cheese, crackers and dill pickle slices. Occasionally some sliced Ukrainian sausage too. Those were the days!

I'm likely not dressing up for Halloween, but Anneka has a pumpkin outfit.

Jeri said...

For Halloween our family is dressing up as a hot dog stand. Our dog is going as the hot dog. I will be ketchup, my husband mustard, my youngest will be relish, my middle child is gonna be a bag of Chips and my oldest is gonna be a bottle of Coke. It should be fun!

Chris (dippy chick) said...

I just wanted to wish you all luck in winning my dip mixes!!

Also, I watched the finale last night and was soooo happy that Leanne won. Korto's was good too! I liked both.

Again, good luck!

Oh how fabulous! I am enjoying your blog SO much! It's a much-needed breath of positive, fresh air!

Love, love, love Chris' dips! I still ahve some left, but am running desperately low on supply!

Well, since it's near Halloween, we're going to the pumpkin patch this weekend - my son's 3rd time.

And last night PR was difficult! I love both Korto and Leanne's collection!

i was going to be a ballerina for halloween ... complete with my own handmade tutu. but considering i just had a baby 3 weeks ago + still jiggle, i'll be a bag of jelly beans.

good thing i don't like jelly beans. i might have been tempted to eat myself.

These dips look AWESOME!

I'm pregnant and my husband is a soccer player. So for Halloween I am going to paint my belly to be a soccer ball and wear a "Future Soccer Mom" shirt with the belly cut out. Of course I'll also do some awesome teased hair, have a whistle, some big sunglasses, and if I have time, photoshop a little brag book. :) Trick or treat!

There's a teen girl who babysits my son every Monday afternoon for 2 hours. Every evening, I come home and discover some sweet, NICE, extra thing she has done for me! Just something surprising and unnecessary - a really sweetness for me! This week, it wasn't until Wednesday that I opened a neglected blanket cupboard to find everything neatly folded and organized. Last week, I had overcooked some rice and left the pot soaking for late-night scrubbing, but she shined it up before I came home. Every week it's something. This girl is only 14. What an amazing woman she is becoming!

After 2 days of no internet service, I now have a new router. I install it and nothing. Nothing. I call Verizon and get passed around like some sort of hot potato game. Finally, I get Justin. I now love him. In under ten minutes he had my system up and running. I almost cried. So hang in there, there are a few great ones in their customer service department.

And Justin is all mine so back off.

I just discovered your blogs today and am having quite an enjoyable evening getting to know you and your charming quirks!

I, too, was thrilled with the PR finale! I started rooting for Leanne at the beginning of the season simply because she's from my town ~ but then I realized that I absolutely loved her clothes! Her collection last night was absolutely gorgeous and I'm so happy that the judges thought so too!

Okay....now for the dips ~ I'm a hopeless dip lover too and this give-away is awesome! Please count me in, and thanks so much!

I love Chris's dips... a couple years ago I added them to little gift baskets that I gave to friends for Christmas - I had such fun choosing the right dips / names for each recipient. I was "nice", though, and didn't give anyone the Crabby Ol' Beach! I was afraid that might be misinterpreted!

I came to the site to leave NICE anecdote, but saw these delicious dips too. I guess two birds, one stone.

I had the nicest thing happen to me today. My computer went on the fritz earlier this week and I took the afternoon off to go get it fixed. Unfortunately my city isn't savvy enough to have an Apple Store downtown, so I borrowed a (nice) friend's car to drive out to the mall in a suburb. Upon getting to the Apple Store around noon, I was told that I wouldn't be an open slot until 3:45 pm!!! I told the clerk that this was disappointing since it wasn't an easy chore to get there and I had no idea that you needed to schedule an appointment. The lady behind me taps me and says "Excuse me, you can have my appointment, it's at 12:15. I heard you say you had to borrow a car to get here and my problem isn't that important, it's with my iPod, not my actual computer."

I was totally floored. That just made my day. I told her that I hoped something awesome happened to her today. And I vowed to do something NICE for somebody random next time I have the chance.

Luckily, the apple rep was able to help with her issue too. And the clerks were really happy to see a customer be so nice.

Thanks Sally, whoever you are!

I came across your website and love it! Keep up the awesome job!

I think seeing someone do something nice when they don't have to makes you love them even more...
My boyfriend and I were at Wal-Mart last weekend getting the final touches for my parents retirement party (and running late I might add). When we got back to the truck he noticed two ladies infront of us having trouble getting their car started. Even though we were running late and expecting 50+ people at our house he helped them get their car started (it was the battery) because it was the right thing to do. His kindness to everyone always amazes me and makes me love him even more!

My nice thing? We found a dog roaming in the streets of our neighborhood, after over a week of trying to find his owners..(which sad to say we haven't) we have found him a good home. My hubby and I may be suckers (we have rescued SEVERAL strays), but we can't walk away from an animal in need.

I love this whole 'nice' notion and I love dip, too... what a combo! I think I love Dippy Chick's dip names, too. Can't see them all but they seem to have an animal or vegetable theme. Very clever! Also, Ginette, way to go with the strays!! You can never go wrong by giving a deserving pet your love. That's nice, alright! :-)

I am going to tell you a NICE story, and these guys could certainly use your dips.

There is a guy at work (we are firefighters) who has cancer. And while he was in the hospital (for 40 days), a group of 20-30 firefighters a day would go over to cancer guy's house and landscape his yard. We are talking from wheat field to oasis: 30 yards of concrete, 10x30 shade structure, sprinklers and lawn, hot tub and furniture.

Not only did they donate their time, they also donated money for the project.

Cancer guy came home from the hospital to see 35 firefighters at his house getting ready to pour concrete in the side yard of the house. He sat and watched the whole event: Hooked up to his IV, walking with a cane and extremely weak.

It is amazing to see people who may not like each other, may not normally work well with each other, come together to help out a brother firefighter. There were 20 year olds up to 53 year olds out there digging dirt and pushing wheelbarrow's of concrete.

The project started October 3rd and was near completion by Saturday Oct 18.

For anyone who is employed at an organization where co-workers are treated sometimes better than family, you know what I am talking about

For those who are not, become friends with a firefighter, You will love the atmosphere they create.

And... If I could post pictures, you would not only know how nice these guys are, but also how extremely good looking they are.

I will give you a "nice" anecdote. I was stand in a rather long line at a mass retail store and an elderly woman was in front of me. When it was her turn in the check out lane, she went to the cooler, selected a bottle of water and gave it to the cashier to ring up. The cashier started to put it in the bag, and the woman said, "No dear, that is for you. I see how busy you are and thought a nice water break might be nice" The cashier was dumbfounded. I thought this was such a nice gesture and such an easy thing to do. I will be copying her lead in the future.
