Last Friday I was sitting in my office when I received an email from the receptionist that said, "Someone who loves you sent you flowers!" This is not a very common occurrence for me, so I sprinted out of my office, knocking over about 20 coworkers on the way to the receptionist desk. I said to her, "Well, Rob doesn't send me flowers, so maybe they're from my parents." I pulled out the card to see the most encouraging "congratulations on your national recognition" note from my friend and former boss, Dana! I was shocked and touched. I don't know about all of you, but not much beats receiving beautiful flowers! (Now, can someone tell my husband that?!)Today's Assignment: Give Flowers
You don't have to have a massive arrangement of exotic flowers delivered to your spouse. Though that's nice! But maybe you'd like to send a bouquet of daisies to your grandmother. Or a nice potted plant to your boss. Or perhaps you still have some flowers in your garden and you can pick one for your child. Or a stranger!
I received this NICE Testimonial from Barb L. about a recent experience she had:
I own a dog grooming shop and one day a woman came in, and it was obvious she was having a very rough day, even though it was only 10AM. It bothered me so much that at noon I went out and bought a small bouquet of flowers, just to cheer her up. When she arrived to pick up her dog, I gave her the flowers. She broke down and cried! She said she'd had a bad argument with her husband that morning and the kids were acting like brats. She said my flowers restored her faith that people really do care about each other. It made her feel good and it made ME feel good!
So take it from Barb and me! Unexpected flowers can do wonders for a person's mood!

Is money tight? I found these sites where you can send virtual flowers for FREE! (It is the thought that counts, right?)
Virtualflowers.com

800flowers.com

flowers.com

I'm sure there's many more of these sites, just search for "virtual flowers"
This is such a lovely idea! The sensible part of me always says, "But flowers die. You're better off spending your money on something that's going to last," but I think that the impression flowers makes lasts much longer than other gifts you can give.
And, what a beautiful story from Barb! Once again, this blog has inspired me!
I love the story from Barb - it's true, flowers can turn anyones day around! Such a nice gesture!
Wow! There are no other words - that is just so nice!
