Yesterday I received a story from Sarah B of Purple Pincushion. I think we've all been in a situation where we made some sort of mistake that caused us to be nervous and stressed out. And all we needed was a kind person to help us out. That's exactly what Sarah described.
About 10 years ago a friend and I ventured into downtown Chicago during rush hour and in a fit of panic turned the wrong way down a one-way street. Yikes! We immediately pulled into a parallel parking spot and tried to regain consciousness! Not more than a minute later a policewoman came over and told us she would stop traffic so we could back out into the intersection and get going the correct way. She was all smiley and friendly and wonderful! I gushed with thank-you's and apologies (being the nice rural Iowa girl I am) and she simple said, "It's nice to be nice." I have never forgotten that statement and it fuels me to be nice even when I am having a tough time.
I love how this story happened 10 years ago and Sarah still carries it with her! That goes to show what kind of impact a smile and a kind gesture can make on a person.

Also, I just wanted to say thank you to Edith for placing the winning bid on the auction for Stephanie and Christian! Many hugs to you for your generosity!

What a great story, wow that was REALLY nice of the police officer to do that! Thanks for sharing :-)
I've been to Chicago this year for the first time and I loved it! I loved the city but the people were very friendly.
