You know how when you're a kid, and you learn to tie a string around your finger as a reminder? (e.g. Don't forget to call grandpa and thank him for the birthday card!) Well String-Rings work along the same idea, however it's a stylish reminder to be a kind person.

From the String-Ring™ website:
Tying a string around your finger as a reminder is an ancient tradition, thought to keep an idea from escaping — literally tying the idea to yourself.
The StringRing™ is a cue to remind yourself and those who notice it, to be kind to one another. To do a kind act, say, or even think something kind. Each color of string represents a specific kindness reminder.
Each ring comes with 20 colored strings for your ring-tying pleasure. Click here to read about the significance of the colors. The website also includes instructions for tying the strings with different knots. I ordered mine yesterday and I'm super excited about wearing it!

Speaking of kindness reminders, I wanted to share something with you. In the last two months, I feel as if my life has changed. Starting this site has affected me, in the best way possible. I'm now aware. I'm mindful of my surroundings and am always on the lookout for a way to be helpful or kind.
As I walked to my parking garage yesterday, I saw this young couple speaking to a man. It looked as if they might have been asking for directions, but I was just passing by, so I wasn't sure. As I walked through the doors, I heard the young man say, "It's okay, thank you though" and walk away. I thought in my head, "What if they're lost? They have bags, they are probably from out of town." I stood there for a brief second debating whether I should do something. Finally I came to the conclusion...OF COURSE I SHOULD! So I ran out after them, shouting, "Excuse me!" They turned around and I asked if they needed help. The young man had a very thick European accent and pointed to a spot on a map. Independence Mall. "Oh sure, it's 10 blocks that way, and 3 blocks that way." They smiled, thanked me, and walked off in the right direction. Note to readers: this is not a horn toot or back pat. I just wanted to mention that the introverted Melissa of pre-Operation NICE days most likely would have kept walking. Why? It's not like it was difficult or took more than two minutes out of my day. Now I realize, being NICE means breaking out of my comfort zone. (Though it might still be a while before I work up enough courage to start conversations with strangers on the elevator!) So anyway, I'm thankful for this website, and I'm thankful that you are all a part of it. Have a spectacular day!

The string rings are fantastic! I'm always looking for unique gifts for my sisters-in-law as they have everything. The rings are perfect!
As for this website. I have to say that visiting here frequently has changed me too. Rather than just rushing through my busy life, easy to do with three kids!, I am now more mindful of my actions throughout the day. Not that I was recklessly stomping on people before : ), but I now find myself pausing to see if there's something I can do for someone else, similar to your experience with the couple needing directions.
So, thank you!
LOVE these rings... awesome idea..
Awesome rings! great find.
What a pretty way to remember to be nice! Wish they came small enough for my finger, but I do love the idea and look.
