Justina of the blog On My Perch, emailed me this story of how a stranger's kindness affected her and her family.
To give you a little background info, I have had a crazy summer. My husband finished his first year of law school in April. We moved at the end of April to Las Vegas so he could do an externship. I had a baby on June 3rd. At the end of July we packed up again so I could go and stay with my mom in AZ while he went to Portugal for an internship. The day we were packing up to leave we went out to run some quick errands. On the way home my husband turned a corner and hit the curb with our back tire. Flat tire! We were pretty close to home and it was sooo hot. The tire was right by the exhaust pipe so we had to turn off the car, so I decided to walk home. I got the stroller out of our back seat and grabbed my 3 week old baby and I started walking home. I was on the verge of a major breakdown. I still had not quite healed from the delivery and walking for longer distances was quite painful. I was worried about my newborn in the heat and I was dreading carrying our heavy stroller up our stairs. Next thing I know this car stops and this nice girl asks if we want a ride because she had seen what happened. My huge stroller and my newborn's carseat fit in her back seat somehow and she took us home! As soon as I got in the car I started crying because I was way emotional and super grateful and I didn't really stop, haha. She even carried the huge stroller up the stairs and then gave me a hug! She was such a sweetie to me!
Thank goodness for people like that girl who stopped to help! I'm sure I would have had the same emotional reaction as Justina. That girl embodied the meaning of the word "nice".
