Already?

I went outside for a late lunch and decided to retrace my morning steps. All of my notes are gone! I hope they made someone happy!

Mel,
I wanted to tell you a brief story. The other day I exited my cell phone carrier and went to go get me some dinner and an elderly lady in a wheelchair asked me for money, I said I will see when I come out.

While inside I ordered my meal and also ordered her a beef taco with chips under $5.00. I went out and said to her I don't do money, but I will gladly buy you dinner. I hope you will accept it? She looked confused and as I passed her she handed the bag to her daughter that was sitting across from her.

I am not sure whether she wanted it or not, but my gift was to give her something instead of money. My heart was filled with happiness.

Your Operation Nice is a great daily reminder to me that I love to do good deeds and glad you created this site.

Julia :-)

Thank you for the story, Julia! That was so sweet of you! My husband does the same thing all the time. The other night, at nearly 3am (after a night out), he bought a slice of pizza and a coke for a man asking for change. He was definitely excited about it! And he always gives away his rations of granola bars that he carries around everywhere he goes. Sometimes he'll even bring extra granola bars in anticipation of requests. There was only one time in about 8 years that someone refused.

I think giving food is one of the best things you can do in that situation and I sure hope the woman appreciated your kind gesture!

Ok this is my first time on this blog and I'm pretty sure it's officially my favorite. I love it. I love the idea, I love the concept - and it's SO easy and should be the foundation of who we are anyway! But I love the stories and the encouragement to just be NICE to others! I try to go out of my way to show kindness to others, and I get such JOY in their response!

A couple months ago I was out to dinner with my girlfriends and a very pregnant (and adorable one at that!) woman walked by. I politely flagged her down and told her that she looked so stinkin' cute! The look on her face was such a gift, she was so grateful and told me that she was due very soon and this was the only shirt she had that fit and she felt very big and very much NOT cute, so it made her day when I told her that.

Now, in this case I didn't feel like I went out of my way to flag her down, I just saw her walk by and made a passing compliment to her. Simple. But knowing I made her day? Makes me do it day after day after day :-)

I look forward to reading more posts and participating in the challenges, and I will definitely be leaving notes around in fun places! Thanks for starting Operation NICE!

I'm sorry all of your notes were gone. After I put one in the bathroom in the movie theater, I saw the cleaning crew go in after me. I hope they left it there!
