NICE News: The Smile Project

Julia of the blog Share World Love sent me an email yesterday with a link that I wish I had discovered years ago.

Smile Boston Project

Since I don't feel I could write about it without sounding like an excited child (e.g. "And THEN...and THEN...and...and...and!"), it seems more appropriate to post the trailer for the short documentary film created about it.

Embedding of the trailer is disabled, so please click this link.

The film synopsis describes the Smile Boston Project as follows:
In the summer of 2003, Bren Bataclan began leaving paintings of his colorful characters for people to take all over the Boston area on park benches, in subway stations, schoolyards, and other public locations. To each painting Bataclan attached a note that read, "This painting is yours to keep if you promise to smile at random people more often."

How incredibly inspiring is that? Truly. Bren Bataclan is my hero.

Bren's book, The Smile Project will be released in October 2008.

I love this! It kind of reminds me of the Dave Matthews music video when the guy gives out hugs to strangers. I can't remember which song it was, though. :(

Fun story!

Love that video! It was for "Everyday." Since I hadn't seen it in a while, I just watched it again and I started crying at my desk! Gosh, I can be emotional. :) But the part when he walks into the classroom is so sweet!
